Thinking of one to one tutoring?

- There are legal implications arising from ‘cash in hand’ tutoring in the home. Most of these operators do not have public liability insurance. The home owner is also uninsured in the event of an accident causing injury. So if the tutor were to fall down the stairs, or was bitten by the family dog, no-one would be covered. In contrast, a professional tuition venue like Kip McGrath would be covered by public liability insurance.
- The family home can be a source of distraction. Often, there is not a quiet place for the tutor and student to work. The TV may be on in the background, the telephone could ring, the dog might need to be let in, or the student might go to the kitchen for a snack or a drink. At a Kip McGrath centre, however, there is an expectation that the student must focus fully for the 80 minutes they are there.
- Some students require tuition in multiple subjects or there may be a number of children in the same family receiving tuition. Rather than having a steady stream of tutors coming through the house each week, it is suddenly more convenient to attend a centre where all tuition needs can be met.
- A Kip McGrath centre can also accommodate changing circumstances such as when a student needs to change days, times or subjects. Rather than the parent constantly trying to juggle student and tutor, they can leave all scheduling hassles to the centre owner, who has an interest in keeping everyone happy. So while individual tutors may come and go, a relationship with a centre can be long lasting. A Kip McGrath centre can meet the needs of a family for many years as children grow and their needs change, at every stage of their school life.
